Santenay Blanc Les Terrasses de Bievaux Domaine Justin Girardin 2016

£198.00 / 12 bottles inc VAT

(List Price: £220.00/12 bottles)

This Santenay, from a region just outside Chassagne Montrachet, is superb. The Chardonnay vines are high in altitude (350m) and can be found on a steep limestone terraced slope. The wine has vibrant acidity, a creamy texture mid palate, mineral tension that focuses the mind and a long finish.

Chateau Paveil de Luze Cru Bourgeois Margaux 2012

£264.00 / 12 bottles inc VAT
£22.00 / bottle inc VAT
(List Price: £295.00/12 bottles)

The wines of Margaux are known for their supreme elegance. Graceful sweet fruit, powdery tannins, lithe body, and excellent, fine concentration make for a precise, neat, and hugely pleasing Claret. The best Paveil de Luze in recent years. Robert Parker was full of praise for the 2012: “under-rated and could easily qualify as a classified growth”.

During a recent blind tasting competition in Burgundy focusing on wines from all over the world, it seems the French are not up to scratch, coming in a slightly limp 11th place…
Twenty four countries competed, attempting to identify the grape variety, country, region of origin, vintage and producer of 12 different wines.
Sweden came top with the UK in a very respectable second place. It just goes to show, whilst the French do make superb wine, it is the more eclectic palates of Scandinavia and the UK that show greater tasting prowess!

Nicolas Audebert, Managing Director of Chx Canon & Rauzan Segla, has announced the acquisition of Chateau Berliquet by Chanel. Berliquet’s vineyards lie adjacent to Canon in the heart of St Emilion and this is a hugely exciting development for an already distinguished property.
