    Made with the same passion and attention to detail as Ornellaia, Le Serre Nuove dell’Ornellaia is made up of 44% Merlot, 30% Cabernet Sauvignon, 13% Cabernet Franc and 13% Petit Verdot. It enjoys a 15 month elevage in barrel with 25% new oak. This 2020 possesses fantastic aromas of dark red fruits such as Griottes cherry, blackberry and elderberry with exotic spices and sumptuous dark chocolate. Savoury and salty, with mouth-watering Mediterranean herbs and black olive to match the plush fruit flavours, this 2020 has a noticeably velvet-like texture that makes it so delicious already. Best of all, there is a beautifully vibrant freshness from start to finish.

    The Ornellaia 2020 Bolgheri Rosso Le Serre Nuove dell'Ornellaia (a proprietary blend of Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot) is a generous and darkly toned red blend that has the extra fruit fiber, sweetness and generous plumpness of a warm vintage. The fullness of the fruit is on full display, but in a very relaxed and natural manner. The wine never feels like too much. The tannins are yielding and velvety, and this purebred Tuscan red wraps thickly over the palate. It's poised for near- and medium-term drinking. Drink 2022-2033.

More about Le Serre Nuove dell'Ornellaia

2020 is a seriously promising and hugely anticipated vintage in Bolgheri. It was exciting to taste such a highly thought of vintage at a private tasting with winemaker Olga Fusari, who is very proud of this release. She told us 2020 is characterised by “towering aromatics and velvet tannins”. Trying 2020 Le Serre Nuove dell'Ornellaia for the first time, we all commented on its distinctive velvety texture and intense lifted perfume; it seduces from the first sip. Unlike the structured and powerful 2019, a vintage that Olga describes as "textural" and which needs time to develop, the 2020 is sumptuous and alluring. It is clear to see why Olga says the 2020 vintage is "all about the aromatics"; it has a beguiling character that embraces you immediately.

Wine Advocate’s Monica Larner is the only critic to have tasted so far. Awarding it one of its highest scores of 93 points, she notes how tempting it is: “This purebred Tuscan red” is “generous and darkly toned” and “poised for near- and medium-term drinking”.

With a nod to Bordeaux, it is a familiar blend of Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon, with a hint of Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot, all kissed by the Tuscan sun. It is remarkable how beautiful the 2020 Le Serre Nuove is already in its youth. This is a wine that is ready to drink from the get-go but with the structure and intensity to age resplendently. In short, it is a vintage to stock up on!

  • IN BOND prices exclude UK Duty and VAT. Wines can be purchased In Bond for storage in Private Reserves or another bonded warehouse, or for export to non-EU countries. Duty and VAT must be paid before delivery can take place.

  • RETAIL prices include UK Duty and VAT. Wines for UK delivery can only be purchased this way.

  • Duty Paid wines have been removed from Bond and cannot subsequently be returned to Bond.  VAT is payable on Duty Paid wines. These wines must remain Duty Paid but can be purchased as such for storage subject to VAT.
