En Primeur | Chablis

We are very pleased to launch our 2020 Chablis En Primeur offer with wines from four great domaines, whom we have worked with for several years: Jean Paul & Benoit Droin, Billaud-Simon, Pinson Frères and Denis & Isabelle Pommier.

We are also thrilled to welcome Domaine William Fèvre, singled out by Decanter's Andy Howard MW as "stunning across the board". This addition allows us to show some new vineyards, including five stunning Grands Crus, and another interpretation of the appellation’s style.

All five domaines have one theme in common: they showcase the exceptional quality and value to be found in Chablis, with prices still sitting comfortably below many appellations from the Côte d’Or.
Goedhuis buying director, David Roberts MW has summed the vintage up for us:

"The fruit profile in 2020 was near perfect. Bunches arrived at wineries clean and healthy, producing wines with the ideal balance of richness, intensity, freshness and mineral authenticity. The combination of sensible yields and warm but ideal growing conditions in 2020 has allowed terroir and individual lieux-dits to really shine through. It is a year where radiant seashore minerality from vineyards on limestone soils has excelled, enhancing the bright, racy fruit character that is Chablis’ hallmark. But it has also allowed the warmer and more clay-based vineyards to express their individual power and muscle, proving how Chablis can produce some of the most age worthy white wines in Burgundy."

Renowned Burgundy critic Allen Meadows rates Chablis 2020 as "very good to potentially excellent". Decanter's Andy Howard MW also commented on the exceptional quality found in 2020: "2020 is a very fine vintage... Demand for Chablis is high and consumers should undoubtedly take the opportunity to stock up on 2020 and enjoy it over the next decade, as the wines represent fantastic value compared to many wines from the Cote d’Or."

For Chablis, 2020 is a plentiful vintage and our advice is to make the most of this, ahead of the tiny volumes predicted for 2021. This is a great vintage, highlighting the best that Chardonnay can produce in Chablis: rich and pure, with stunning freshness.

We’re limiting purchases to 1 or 2 cases per wine due to high demand. Please contact your account manager or wine@goedhuis.com to discuss larger quantities.
