Rhone Tasting Part 4 – St Joseph, Cornas and Hermitage

Room Three, which is largest gallery at the Saatchi, featured a series of wines from the lower Northern Rhône. It was buzzing with excitement.

Four domaines were pouring. Domaine Barret’s Crozes Hermitage was plump and velvety. Iconic André Perret’s poised, ethereal Condrieu is already almost sold out. His St. Joseph Blanc and St. Joseph Rouge as always represent unbelievable value.


Alberic Mazoyer and Caroline Combier

The charming Alberic Mazoyer was representing Domaine Alain Voge. Their opulent, complex Cornas Vieilles Vignes was a favourite of the night.

While David Viale (winemaker Florent’s brother) of Domaine du Colombier poured not only their juicy Crozes Hermitage but also a fantastic vertical of their Hermitage.

If this was not enough of a draw, Manicomio was serving up its incredible paper thin prosciutto that packs an incredible punch of flavour while a string quartet lulled the tasters as they sipped and spat.
