Rhone Tasting Part 3 – The South

Archive

The finest art space coupled with an array north to south of our celebrated Rhone growers made for a fascinating and highly enjoyable evening last Tuesday.

Room 2 was of course the absolute peak of perfection housing both the mighty Ch Beaucastel, as masterful as ever, and Clos des Papes, both showing fine concentration.

Domaine Cayron’s Gigondas 2008 was wonderful for me, very impressive at £159 in bond. I am also a huge fan of tea-ophile Mr Vache’s Vaqueyras Domaine Clos de Cazaux 2008.

I loved it, found it highly informative and as always am reminded of the quite exceptional value and diversity to be found in this intriguing region. Rock on the Rhone.
