Ottolenghi lasagna and Monteleccio

Archive

Monday nights can’t get any better – a busy day including a visit to my challenging house renovation, a handsome order to a very fancy new London hotel and, finally, home to find simply the greatest lasagna winking at me. Ottolenghi in Ledbury Road is off the chart and a purveyor of really outstanding food – get down there.

Having flirted very briefly with a night on the Perrier, the notion was too underwhelming and so uncorked a bottle of recently delivered Monteleccio 2008.

This IGT is made by our treasured Sestis in the hills of Montalcino from the grape of Brunello, Sangiovese. It is not required to age for years prior to release so embodies the juicy black cherry fruit of this handsome grape. It was absolutely delicious and didn’t last long. Try some, you will enjoy it!
