First Impressions from the UGC Tastings

Hot off the press from our winebuyer’s blackberry: The Bordeaux 08s are actually quite lovely. Lots of red and black fruit but also some structure and loads of freshness.

They will have a long drinking window. Lots have enjoyable upfront fruit but impressive structure too for some cellaring. They are very precise and focused.

Some growers have said they are like 2001 but with more power and even maybe sweetness. We feel they are better than 2004 – more richness. They are not as powerful as 2006 but there is a very attractive freshness that many 2006s don’t have (or at least not as much).

We’ll confirm more tomorrow but we generally really like them so far!
