Congratulations to Catherine Petrie MW

We wanted to share our incredibly exciting news that Catherine has been awarded her Master of Wine. It is a notoriously challenging course, and she joins our Buying Director, David Roberts MW, as one of just 369 in the world. Catherine has not only completed all three stages successfully, but has done so in record time, vaulting every hurdle at the first attempt.

After studying English literature at university Catherine’s wine career began in the winery, working as a cellar hand. Starting in the Mornington Peninsula in 2010, she has gone on to work in Friuli, Martinborough, Bordeaux, Burgundy, and Sancerre.

Catherine joined us here at Goedhuis & Co in 2015 and works as Buying and Marketing Manager. She has taken over buying responsibility for the Rhone and Loire Valleys, as well as creating our flagship Selection List: our new Autumn 2017 Selection List will be published later this month. She also works with the marketing department delivering a busy calendar of events, campaigns and offers throughout the year. In addition she continues to return to France each year for the harvest, joining Paul Zinetti’s team at Domaine Comte Armand in 2016 and 2017.

Catherine’s Research Paper is Sancerre’s single vineyard wines versus formal cru classification systems: an investigation of Les Monts Damnés, Les Culs de Beaujeu, and Chêne Marchand.

We are exceptionally proud of her and hope you will have a chance to meet her at one of our events over the next few months.
