Produttori del Barbaresco’s stunning new release | 2015 Barbaresco
Since 1958, the Produttori has been the reference point for classic, beautifully made, exemplary Barbaresco. It is not only one of the best and most consistent Barbaresco producers, but also one of the best cooperative cellars in Italy, offering unbeatable quality-price ratios and we are delighted to offer their newest release – the delicious 2015 Barbaresco, which comes in at under £28 per bottle on the table.
Stylistically the 2015 Barbaresco has bright aromatic fruit and a defined purity on the palate. This is all down to the strict selection of fruit making their Barbaresco archetypical. It delivers quintessential Nebbiolo sensations of rose, black and red cherry, cinnamon-spice and is always straightforward and deliciously accessible.
"Produttori del Barbaresco is like that long-lost friend who always picks up a lively conversation no matter how many years have passed since your last meeting. It’s the ultimate fall-back wine: It’s never intimidating or awkward. It’s always a pleasure to drink." Monica Larner, Wine Advocate #207
"Barbaresco is lucky enough to have one of the world’s greatest wine cooperatives in the village of the same name, producing a high-quality Barbaresco blend every year and single-vineyard wines in the best years. These wines offer some of the Langhe’s most attractive value, and I unreservedly recommend them." The Beauty of Barbaresco, Andrew Jefford (August 2017)
This well priced beauty from Italy’s famed Piedmont region comes highly recommended.
Made from Nebbiolo growing in northwest Italy’s Piedmont region by one of the appellation’s most respected producers. A ruby red with powerful aromas of concentrated, ripe red and black fruits. The rich fruit aroma is lifted by a herbal hint. A textured palate with notes of berries, violets, and liquorice has ripe but firm tannins, brisk acidity, and a lingering finish of dried cherries.

I tasted this wine after bottling but before its commercial release. The 2015 Barbaresco will hit the market on September 1st. It was scheduled to be released in October, but because Produttori del Barbaresco is already out of stock of the 2014 Barbaresco, they decided to move this release up and shorten waiting times. I mention that because you definitely don't want to pop the cork too early. The 2015 vintage opens to a visibly darker color and thicker concentration compared to recent past vintages. Next to the upcoming 2016 and 2017 editions, we can expect 2015 to be the most fruit-forward of the three. You get dark tones of plum and blackberry with structured tannins at the rear.
