Clusel Roch 2021 | En Primeur
Clusel-Roch is one of the most outstanding Northern Rhône producers. Nestled below the steep slopes of the famous Côte Brune, this impeccably tended, bio-dynamically farmed domaine makes textbook Côte-Rôtie wines from very old parcels of Syrah. The 2021s are incisive and lacy, offering soft, polished raspberry and blackberry fruit that is already so accessible. Very classic in style, “2021 will stand apart from the previous vintages, harking back to vintages even forty years ago”, says Rhone authority John Livingstone-Learmonth. Clusel-Roch is an estate that we are immensely proud to work with. Understated yet complex, the wines are celebrated for their incredible purity and elegance, combining Syrah’s natural muscle with what we can only describe as a Burgundy-like finesse.

Les Schistes is a blend of four principal parcels in the Côte Brune, where both young and old vines are planted on mica-schist soils. A gorgeous drop, the 2021 has a nose of incredibly pure red and blue fruit tinged with violets and rose water. Soft, malleable tannins and a beam of juicy acidity provide a deft framework to the pure fruit.

pure red robe; the nose has a gentle blackberry, cassis leaf aroma, a note of toffee. The palate is uber pure, crystalline red fruit present, is cool throughout, gathers a little extra form and weight towards the finish, the close on powder touches. Rose-violet, light graphite appear on the aftertaste; this is joli. From 2025. 2039-41
