Domaine Bruno Colin | Chassagne Montrachet & 1er Cru Maltroie 2015
At our recent Burgundy tasting, Bruno Colin was in attendance to pour some of his 2015 Chassagne Montrachets. We are delighted to offer his Chassagne Montrachet 2015 and 1er Cru Maltroie 2015, which showed superbly on the night. Learn more about the domaine and these wines by watching these two video clips.
Bruno Colin comes from a prestigious Burgundian family. His father, Michel Colin of Domaine Colin-Deleger, retired in 2004 leaving his vineyards to his sons, Bruno and his brother Philippe.
Bruno has retained many of the methods he learnt from his father but is also constantly fine-tuning in vineyard and cellar, preferring a more taut mineral style of wine to his father’s rich and rounded style.
2015 was a triumph for Bruno. These Chassagnes are harmonious and seductive with a gorgeous balance of elegant fruit and lively freshness.
His Chassagne Montrachet 2015 is absolutely "à point" and only a small parcel remains. The Chassagne Montrachet 1er Cru La Maltroie 2015 is a commanding expression of the 2015 vintage, and, as Bruno says, is ready to drink now but will also age wonderfully.Other 2015 1er Cru Chassagne Montrachets and Bruno's delicious and excellent value Chassagne Montrachet Rouge 2013 are also available.
In 2015 Bruno harnessed the richness of the vintage checked by the lively freshness and chiselled structure of Chassagne. Situated right in the heart of the village, the fruit is amplified by the vibrant structure. A toasty hint of new oak enhances the peachy ripe fruit. Long and quenching.
Firm reduction. There is a slightly sleeker mouth feel to the appealingly focused middle weight flavors that are also blessed with good concentration and plenty of sap that makes for a seductive mouth feel on the balanced and relatively forward finale. This is quite nice and should unfold young.
