En Primeur | Domaine Sérafin Père & Fils
The domaine continues under the name of Christian Serafin and his father, but has actually been run for some years by Christian’s daughter Karine and his niece Frédérique Goulley. The two cousins continue his mantra of exceptionally hard work in the vineyards on their fine selection of very old vines. Frédérique destems 100% and she remains committed to the domaine’s signature philosophy of 100% new oak for the main cuvées. They work with two coopers, Taransaud and Francois Frères, and past vintages show that this approach makes wines with a fine ability to age.

Goedhuis, December 2021
These well-placed vines produce a full rich Bourgogne Rouge with a Gevrey edge of dark fruit, game and wild autumnal forest flavours. Bags of personality, the length and bold fruit is given bite and energy by the zip of freshness on the finish.
2020 Gevrey Chambertin Christian Sérafin
£240.00 In Bond £304.07 Inc VAT-
Goedhuis, December 2021
This cuvée can be wrongly overshadowed by its bigger brother the Vieilles Vignes cuvée. This wine has really excelled in the warmer vintage of 2020. It is full of joy and richness. Barrel matured in 50% new oak and 50% one year old, it confidently displays dark Morello cherry flavours, with a touch of oak spice and cappuccino. Nicely layered with a poised finish.
2020 Gevrey Chambertin Vieilles Vignes Christian Sérafin
£315.00 In Bond £394.07 Inc VAT-
Goedhuis, December 2021
This superb wine embodies the ethos of Domaine Serafin, coming from two different plots in the appellation, one with vines of 70 years old and the other just over 100 years. A hugely complex wine, with layers of dark smoky fruits, bilberry and huckleberry. Firm and intense, the powerful fruit is enriched by a faint hint of vanilla oak, giving a pleasing sense of sweetness. This will evolve in bottle to show real pedigree.
2020 Morey St Denis 1er Cru Les Millandes Christian Sérafin
£410.00 In Bond £508.07 Inc VAT-
Goedhuis, December 2021
This excellent 1er Cru is in the middle of the village lying below Clos de la Roche Grand Cru and never lacks confidence. The brilliant location and aspect are apparent. Tempting blackberry crumble with a touch of cocoa powder, the intense flavours from the small vintage berries is evident. This is extremely concentrated and a wine for cellaring.
