En Primeur | Domaine François Legros
Domaine Legros spans over 6.5 hectares, covering appellations in Nuits St Georges, Chambolle Musigny and Morey St Denis. An archetypal family-holding, winemaker François took on the vineyards from his parents and uncle at the end of the 1980s and in 1999 he acquired yet more vines from his father-in-law. The latest chapter now sees François joined by his two daughters, Charlotte, a graduate of the Lycée Viticole de Beaune who manages the vineyard, and Laure, who looks after the commercial side of the business.
2022 St Aubin 1er Cru Murgers des Dents de Chien François Legros

Goedhuis, December 2023
A prized Premier Cru in St Aubin next to Remilly. with fine southern facing slopes. Bright lime green tinge, with a fine balance between lemon zest freshness and a creamy, nutty texture. The succulence and volume sit very well alongside the energetic drive on the finish.

The 2022 Saint-Aubin Murgers des Dents de Chien 1er Cru has a more complex bouquet than the En Remilly this year, demonstrating a touch more mineralité, crushed stone notes infusing the orchard fruit. Its higher elevation perhaps advantages it. The palate is medium-bodied with a nervous entry, very good raciness here that counterbalance the richness of this Saint-Aubin. The finish has very good weight, and the 30% new oak is neatly integrated. Excellent. Drinking Window: 2025-2038.
2022 Nuits St Georges François Legros
£195.00 In Bond £253.24 Inc VAT (£42.20 Per Bottle)-
Goedhuis, December 2023
Sourced from two different plots, this is a brilliant example of old vine quality (60 years) and the characteristics of Nuits St Georges from the Vosne Romanée side of the town, where all the fruit comes from. A touch of mocha and blueberry on the nose. Medium in weight, it has a cheerfully Vosne-like charm. A good line of fresh acidity on the finish gives a pleasing, mouth-watering impression on the finish.
2022 Chambolle Musigny Vieilles Vignes François Legros
£240.00 In Bond £307.24 Inc VAT (£51.20 Per Bottle)-
Goedhuis, December 2023
The very old vines in this parcel (70 years) produce small, intense berries. Plenty of sloe and black cherry, there is a mid palate tension thanks to the concentration of the berries, but the finish unfurls with a pleasing volume and juiciness which lingers nicely on the finish.
2022 Morey St Denis 1er Cru Clos Sorbé François Legros
£270.00 In Bond £343.24 Inc VAT (£57.20 Per Bottle)-
Goedhuis, December 2023
The name of this site is said to derive from the Sorb apple which may have been planted here many centuries ago. There is a high proportion of chalk in the soil which Fran?ois credits with giving the wines from this vineyard its vitality and energy. This cuvée always shows well from barrel, with its lively red fruit scent of pomegranate and cherry. The crunchy fresh fruit gives way to the rounded body and volume and an appealing, lively touch of acidity on the finish.
2022 Nuits St Georges 1er Cru Aux Bousselots François Legros
£275.00 In Bond £349.24 Inc VAT (£58.20 Per Bottle)-
Goedhuis, December 2023
Sitting close to the town on its northern side heading to Vosne Romanée, this is a particularly good Premier Cru site. Vibrant red berry and crystalline fruits, this sees 40% new oak, a little more than the domaine’s norm, which gives flavours of mocha and oriental spice. Very good depth, nothing feels forced and the finish is charming and graceful.

The 2022 Nuits Saint-Georges Aux Bousselots 1er Cru comes from a parcel located slightly lower down the incline than the Aux Thorey, the vines around 50 years old. It has a well-defined and more composed bouquet with vivacious redcurrant, wild strawberry, and blood orange scents, very focused and energetic. The medium-bodied palate has fine tannins, very precise and pure, with good tension and complexity, and a mineral-rich, complex finish. This may be the best Nuit Saint-Georges I have tasted from Legros. Highly recommended. Drink 2025 - 2042. 94 points. Neal Martin, Vinous
2022 Morey St Denis 1er Cru Les Millandes François Legros
£285.00 In Bond £361.24 Inc VAT (£60.20 Per Bottle)-
Goedhuis, December 2023
A prized Premier Cru within Morey St Denis sitting beneath Clos St Denis on the Route des Grands Crus. A silky and generous wine, flavours of dark cherry and loganberry. The velvety tannins are enveloped by ample volume of rich juicy fruit. Very layered and full on the finish.

The 2022 Morey-Saint-Denis Les Millandes 1er Cru comes from two parcels, one planted north-south and the other east-west. Its attractive bouquet offers brambly red berry fruit, forest floor and light black truffle scents. There is good complexity here; it is very composed. The palate is well-balanced, with good depth and gentle grip. There is mainly black fruit here with plenty of freshness and mineralité. The finish has commendable precision and feels long and tender. Excellent. Drink 2026 - 2048. 94 points. Neal Martin, Vinous
2022 Chambolle-Musigny 1er Cru les Noirots François Legros
£321.00 In Bond £404.44 Inc VAT (£67.40 Per Bottle)-
Goedhuis, December 2023
Premier Cru Noirots lies on the Bonnes Mares side of the village, from which François has produced a gamey and savoury wine, full of robust dark fruits. A deep central core holds the plush richness together and gives a gentle lift of freshness at the end.
