    Les Boucherottes is on the southern boundary of Beaune just above Pommard’s Epenots vineyards. This side of the appellation tends to produce poised, elegant wines rather than the firmer, more muscular style of the northern side of the commune. This was the only appellational wine to be 100% destalked, in order to show the florality of aromas which Mathias didn’t want to mask with additional fruit tannins. Sloe and boiled sweet scent, the initial impression is seductive, ahead of the earthy tannic grip which gives depth and an additional dimension at the finish.

The name Gros is one of the most famous in the Côte de Nuits, synonymous with great Vosne Romaneé. The original Gros domaine is now divided amongst four family members. Region

Beaune

The viticultural capital of Burgundy, Beaune was the headquarters to the Duchy in the 13th century and is now home to many winemakers and négociants. The appellation of Beaune includes both reds and white wines, though the quantity of red is significantly greater. The soils are predominantly sandier than either those to the north in Aloxe Corton or those to the south in Volnay or Pommard, producing wines that are supple and early drinking in nature. Similar to other surrounding Côte de Beaune appellations, there are no grand crus, but it does offer 42 premier cru sites, some of which are exceptional. These include Les Grèves, Les Teurons and Les Vignes Franches.
