  • Jeb Dunnuck, November 2022, Score: 90-92

The 2021 Saint Joseph Blanc (equal parts Marsanne and Roussanne) has a vibrant, medium-bodied style with a pure, pretty perfume of juicy apple and stone fruits as well as citrus. It's nicely balanced, has the fresher, cooler style of the vintage, and outstanding length. It will benefit from 6-12 months of bottle age.

  • John Livingstone-Learmonth, November 2022, Score: ****

fine yellow robe; pear, with a note of candy, apricot juice shows on the nose, which is airborne, well lifted. The palate has a soft intro, bears mild richness, develops a little increase in depth – it’s a light version of St Jo blanc, neat, its purity an asset. There is a low-key late tang, floral touch. Drink from 2026-27.

Domaine André Perret

André Perret needs little introduction: he is the master of light-footed, complex Viogniers from the granite soils of Condrieu. The appellation is known for its rich, mouth-coating whites best drunk in their youth, although André’s sophisticated, expressive examples also have the potential to age well in bottle too. Region

St Joseph

St Joseph is the longest appellation in the Rhone, extending along the western banks of the Rhône river from St. Péray to Condrieu. It produces both red wine from Syrah and white wine from Marsanne and/or Roussanne which tends to be early drinking and can be traditional or modern styled depending on the producer. Created in 1956, St Joseph is a young appellation which has seen extensive expansion of its vineyard area over the last 25 years. As a result, many producers feel that there is great potential in the quality of its terroir which has yet to be discovered. Due to its lesser known status, St Joseph wines often provide excellent value for money.
