  • Goedhuis, December 2022

The Gros parcel of Echezeaux is one of the finest in the appellation, in a plot called Les Champs Traversins, planted with 100-year-old vines. Deep cherry colour, spice, oriental fruits, nutmeg and pine kernel meld with damson and cherry. Instantly giving in the palate, with a striking volume of fruit, generous and full. The tannins have a powdered texture, present but incredibly fine. This wine just keeps on giving. Sensational.

  • Neal Martin, January 2023, Score: 93-95

The 2021 Echézeaux Grand Cru is matured with 50% whole bunches in 50% new oak. It has quite a sensual bouquet with slightly melted red fruit, thyme and crushed stone, somehow, "laid back" aromatics without leaving you feeling shortchanged. The palate is medium-bodied with fine-boned tannins, nicely integrated oak with a vibrant, sorbet-fresh finish. Excellent. Drink 2026-2050.

  • Jasper Morris MW, December 2022, Score: 92-94

From the Champs Traversins sector. Sturdy mid purple. This starts slowly and then builds steadily, with some nuances. Clean, stylish, with the expected length. Relatively discreet all the way through. Drink from 2028-2035.

Region

Echézeaux

One of two Grand Crus within the Flagey-Echezeaux area right in the heart of the Cote de Nuits. Relatively large and consequently diverse for a Grand Cru, the better Echézeaux wines undoubtedly deserve this status. As always in Burgundy vineyard location and grower is critical.
