Goedhuis
This small 7 ha estate is a delicious blend of 60% merlot, 20% cabernet franc and 20% petit Verdot. Deep dark berry fruits bouquet, with a touch of liquorice and spice, it has a fleshy volume with rounded tannic structure. The fine sweetness of fruit is kept in balance by a rewarding line of freshness at the end.

Lying just south of the of the historical fortified town of Blaye with views across the Gironde to the appellation of Margaux, sits the charming 7 hectare estate of Ch Maine Gazin. This is an absolute Right Bank gem and a reminder to us all that Bordeaux not only makes the famous and noble but at its heart it produces some the finest and importantly best value red wines from anywhere in the world. This property provides the best of all combinations: a fine Bordeaux terroir, benefitting from its history and traditions, and some Southern hemisphere passion and enthusiasm under new owners Geoff and Marion Cook. In 2015 Geoff and Marion left their Australian small holding near Sydney and sought a new life as vineyard owners and wine makers, and they couldn’t be happier! They have used their agricultural knowhow to start the conversion towards organic viticulture since 2018. Geoff says the estate’s clay limestone ridge of soils and, more importantly, its proximity to the estuary give them the perfect opportunity to follow such a viticultural policy. The proof is very much in the pudding.Read less
Region
Côtes de Blaye
A very old wine producing region dating back to Roman times, Côtes de Blaye is a fortified town on the right bank of the Gironde River opposite Margaux. The soil is primarily limestone based with occasional clay and gravel areas and Merlot dominates most red wine blends with Sauvignon and Sémillon dominating the whites.
