  • Goedhuis, December 2020

A little backward on the nose, but this is so often the case when one steps up a level. All the components of a great wine in the making are there on the palate. A perfect synthesis of volume and power. The tannins are beautifully layered and give plenty of structure. The fruit is broad and naturally concentrated, and the zip of acid freshness on the finish gives life and energy to this superb wine.

  • Burghound, April 2021, Score: 91-94

This is quite firmly reduced and completely unreadable in its current condition. There is much to like however on the palate of the sleek, well-detailed and beautifully textured larger-scaled flavors that also flash ample minerality and serious power on the slightly woody finish. This is somewhat awkward today though all of the components appear to be present for this to harmonize, especially since the very firm and robust supporting tannins make clear that this is going to require extended cellaring to arrive at its apogee. As such my projected range offers the benefit of the doubt that this will progressively harmonize after a few years of bottle age. Drink 2034+

  • Jasper Morris MW, November 2020, Score: 95-98

Fine imperial purple, with wonderful ripe but balanced fruit suffusing the palate, a ball of ripe raspberry, just the right oaking, just enough acidity, tannins helping the structure but in low key, and all the persistence you could possibly hope for. 4 Star
