Goedhuis, February 2024
Named in homage of the five arrows that symbolise the Rothschild family, Flechas de los Andes was created in their quest to find the finest terroir for fostering Malbec. Inky and intense, this is the estate’s greatest expression. Powerful and sweet-fruited, the nose reveals notes of blackberry, roasted coffee, vanilla, dried violets, and minerals. Rich and concentrated on the palate, the tannins are soft and supple, making it well-suited to gracing any dinner table.

Flechas de Los Andes is the result of an alliance between Baron Benjamin de Rothschild and Monsieur Laurent Dassault, reflecting the fulfilment of their quest to find a great terroir at the base of the Andes. Flechas de Los Andes is the result of an alliance between Baron Benjamin de Rothschild and Monsieur Laurent Dassault, reflecting the fulfilment of their quest to find a great terroir at the base of the Andes. Located 120 kilometers south of Mendoza, near the village of Vista Flores, the Flechas de Los Andes estate now occupies more than 100 hectares in the Andes foothills. First planted in 1999, the Malbec grapes thrive on these ideal plots of rocks, granite pebbles, and alluvial gravels perched at 1,100 meters above sea level. They are joined by plots of Merlot, Syrah and Cabernet Sauvignon. The hot, dry climate is characterized as semi-arid continental and features pronounced temperature fluctuations between day and night and across seasons. These mid-altitude conditions are highly conducive to the ripening of black grapes and, more particularly, of Malbec. Read less
Region
Mendoza
Mendoza is the largest viticultural region in Argentina, located in the west of Argentina around the city of the same name. The region accounts for more than two-thirds of the country's total wineproduction, which focuses on red wine production. Malbec is the most important grape variety but Cabernet Sauvignon, Tempranillo, Chardonnay and Chenin Blanc, among many others, are also grown. Central Mendoza has the longest tradition for fine wine production as the climate is temperate and the soils are unusually gravelly for Argentina as elsewhere in Mendoza soils are typically alluvial and sandy.
