Radiant golden yellow colour. Strikingly honeyed nose. In the palate this is rich and luxurious with a lovely creamy viscosity. Extremely generous in the mouth but superbly held together by an almost tannic structure and texture. A very powerful wine, with great intensity. This exudes class and has a great and long life ahead of it.

Moving to the three single vineyard Hermitage Blancs, these are all perfect wines yet offer distinct characters. The 2019 Ermitage De L’Orée comes from more limestone soils in the Les Murets lieu-dit, on the eastern side of the appellation and was brought up in 15% new demi-muids. It reveals a vivid gold hue to go with gorgeous honeyed peach, white currants, quince, crushed stone, and white flower-like aromas and flavors. This full-bodied white has terrific concentration, a rich, layered mouthfeel, beautiful acidity, and a finish that just won't quit. Offering more fat and opulence than the L'Ermite and more minerality than the Le Meal, this pinnacle Hermitage Blanc needs a year or three of bottle age, then should drink nicely for 5-7 years, at which point it's best forgotten in the cellar for another decade. Seven generations later, we find Michel, forty something, with a real passion for the expression of soils, at the head of this exceptional vineyard. This young, determined man has succeeded in combining the past with daring and creativity. Michel took the domaine entirely biodynamic and eschews the use of cultured yeasts. Region
Hermitage
Hermitage is a region that produces both red and white wines. Its famous red is made from 100% Syrah while the white is produced from Marsanne and/or Roussanne. A sweeter and very rare white wine is also produced from grapes that have been dried on straw before being pressed. A slighter warmer micro-climate enables Hermitage's red wines to have more ripeness and structure than Côte Rôtie which adds additional power and longevity. As a result, they are usually the most ‘masculine' styled reds in all of the northern Rhône.
