Goedhuis, December 2019
The polar opposite to the Chambolle Musigny, this high class village wine is made from a single parcel in the lieu dit Basses Maizières, which lies on the flat just below Les Suchots towards the border with Vougeot. With hints of cherry and kirsch, this is a wine of great breadth. It retains a central core of fruit with drive and energy. Fine and very long.

Neal Martin, January 2020, Score: 88-90
The 2018 Vosne-Romanée Village has a fragrant bouquet of morello cherry and raspberry aromas. The palate is sweet on the entry, featuring notes of sour cherry and orange peel. A little compact toward the finish, but it should mellow out after bottling. Fine. Drink 2022-2032

Burghound, January 2020, Score: 88-90
This is actually aromatically similar to the Chambolle villages but with markedly more spice elements in play. There is a lovely sense of vibrancy to the well-detailed medium weight flavors that don't possess quite the same density but there is slightly better balance and overall depth. Drink 2026+

Wine Advocate, January 2020, Score: 89-91
The 2018 Vosne-Romanée Village has also turned out well, exhibiting scents of wild berries, peonies, violets and grilled squab, followed by a medium to full-bodied, supple and nicely concentrated palate that's lively and refined. This is a lovely wine.

The Hudelots are an ancient Burgundian family whose ancestry can be traced back to Chambolle since before the French Revolution. Needless to say, wine has been in their blood for almost as long. Alain Huedlot began his wine career in 1954 working for his father and other local growers. At the ripe young age of 20, he started renting vineyards from his family in Chambolle Musigny until eventually receiving other small parcels from his father. Following a passionate and whirlwind romance with the granddaughter of Charles Noellat, he married despite protests from her family. This controversial union ensured additional vineyards despite a harrying and lengthy legal battle. Today the domaine owns a total of 10 well-situated hectares, which are split over 5 communes. Alain Hudelot’s grandson Charles Van Canneyt is a man on a mission. Having arrived at the domaine from Champagne only six years ago, he is already considered one of the brightest young talents in the region. These wines are wonderful examples of traditionally styled Burgundy - superbly pure and focused with an undeniable sense of terroir.Read less

Vosne Romanée
The vineyards of the modest village of Vosne Romanée are arguably the most sought after in the Côte d'Or. It is host to excellent Village and Premier Cru wines, but it is its most famous Grand Crusthat truly stand out: Romanée-Conti, La Tâche, Richebourg, Grands Echézeaux, Echézeaux, Romanée St. Vivant and La Romanée as well as Cros Parentoux, a Premier Cru vineyard which attracts Grand Cru attention (and prices). Vosne-Romanée can be remarkably robust and powerful, yet be charming and fleshy giving it one of the most diverse styles of the region.
