  • Goedhuis, November 2018

The domaine has five parcels across the village and blend them to make a characterful and quintessential example of this village. It is bursting with crunchy sweet redcurrants and tingling freshness. The tannin structure is wonderful – silky and fine, and the finish is exceptionally long for a village wine.

  • Neal Martin, January 2019, Score: 87-89

The 2017 Chambolle-Musigny Village, matured in 40% new oak, has an appealing bouquet of vibrant red fruit, revealing just a touch of meat jus in the background. The palate is smooth on the entry with supple tannin and fine acidity; brown spices surface toward the second half. There is good depth here, although a touch of heat on the back palate mars the finish. I will be cautious for now. 2020 - 2028

  • Burghound, April 2019, Score: 88-91

A restrained but softly perfumed nose combines notes of red and dark cherry, spice, plum, sandalwood and a hint of violet, all of which is trimmed in just enough wood to mention. The lacy but quite punchy lighter weight flavors possess excellent delineation on the attractively stony finish that offers sneaky good length. This is very pretty and very Chambolle though it's not quite as complex as the Aux Réas, at least not today. Drink 2024+

Region

Chambolle Musigny

The wines of Chambolle Musigny are like no other. They can be superbly delicate, yet mindblowingly complex. Of all the northern Burgundy appellations, they are the most ethereal, and as a result the most feminine. Most of the Chambolle Musigny vineyard area is encompassed in its Village and Premier Cru appellations including the robust Beaux Bruns, the splendidly mineral Le Cras and the poised yet powerful Les Amoureuses. It produces only two Grand Crus - the round and rich Bonnes Mares which it shares with Morey St. Dénis, as well as what could be described as the Stradivarius of grand crus, Musigny.
