Goedhuis, December 2017
The vines of this excellent parcel have just seen their 112th year, explaining the intense concentration, decadent dark currants, and salty spice of the palate, which is well supported by a luxurious measure of new oak.

Burghound, January 2018, Score: 89-92
There is enough reduction present to push the underlying fruit and discreet wood aromas to the background. Once again though the dense and very serious medium-bodied flavors possess an excellent verve and freshness while exhibiting very fine length on the less rustic if equally structured and youthfully austere finish. Like the old vines Gevrey, this is indisputably built-to-age and is going to require extended patience. Outstanding Top value. Drink: 2028+

Jancis Robinson, January 2018, Score: 16.5+
Deeper crimson than most. Lots of interest on the nose. Masses of pleasure but not over the top. Bitter cherries and lots of energy. Dirnk 2026-2040

Taking its name from founders Edmond Geantet and Bernadette Pansiot back in 1954, this domaine has grown from 7 to 22 hectares under the direction of their son Vincent Geantet and his children Fabien and Emilie. Having outgrown their historical cellars, they invested in a new winery, and their wines show all the advantages that this additional space provides. Traditionally, they de-stem 100% of their fruit and allow the must a few days of cool maceration prior to fermentation starting, which enhances the colour and aromatic content of their wines. Through a combination of old vines (plenty of centenaries in their vineyards), sumptuous fruit concentration and generous new oak they make a hedonistic style of Burgundy.Read less
Region
Gevrey Chambertin
The greatest village in terms of notable grand cru vineyards, Gevrey Chambertin has no less than 9 of them including its most famous Chambertin and Chambertin Clos de Bèze, and includes a premier cru vineyard that many people deem grand cru in quality - Clos St. Jacques. It encompasses approximately 400 hectares under vine also making it the largest top quality vineyard area in the Côte de Nuits. Gevrey-Chambertin has many followers who seek out its deeply coloured, robust and textured wines. They are often firmer than the neighbouring appellations of Chambolle Musigny and Vosne Romanée and can take several years to soften once released. Due to its size and reputation, the list of excellent producers is noteworthy and many are worth seeking out.
