Goedhuis, January 2017
An open generous fleshy style, with flavours of sloes and damsons. Focusing more on dark fruits than in some years, with enticing silky tannins. A very clean and bright wine, which gives almost immediate gratification.

Neal Martin, December 2016, Score: 89-91
The 2015 Vosne-Romanée, matured in 50% new oak, finished its malolactic in October. It has a perfumed, quite floral bouquet, a mixture of blackberry and blueberry fruit with just a hint of crushed violet. The palate is medium-bodied with sappy red berry fruit, a subtle marine influence with a touch of sea salt on the vibrant finish. I expect this will land at the top of my banded score once in bottle. Burghound, January 2017, Score: 89-91
Here too there is enough reduction to render an assessment of the nose difficult. Otherwise the fresh and energetic medium weight flavors possess excellent complexity and punch on the saline and youthfully austere finale. This sneaky long effort is also blessed with unusually fine tannins and should be approachable young. Outstanding. (89-91)/2021+

Sylvain Cathiard is one of the top growers in Vosne Romanée, a region not shy of exceptional talent. He only has around 4.25 hectares of vines, therefore the quantity that he makes is particularly small. Traditionally, Burgundy domaines are renowned for being minute in size, and he is definitely amongst the smallest. In addition, he has some of the most exceptional vineyards, which read like a Who's Who list of the Côte de Nuits, many of which are located next to grand crus sites. This combination is lethal for allocations. Too little wine with too many open hands all waiting for their fair share. SInce 2011 his talented son, Sébastien, has been running the domaine.Read less

Region
Vosne Romanée
The vineyards of the modest village of Vosne Romanée are arguably the most sought after in the Côte d'Or. It is host to excellent Village and Premier Cru wines, but it is its most famous Grand Crusthat truly stand out: Romanée-Conti, La Tâche, Richebourg, Grands Echézeaux, Echézeaux, Romanée St. Vivant and La Romanée as well as Cros Parentoux, a Premier Cru vineyard which attracts Grand Cru attention (and prices). Vosne-Romanée can be remarkably robust and powerful, yet be charming and fleshy giving it one of the most diverse styles of the region.
