Goedhuis, January 2017
A very fine Volnay, with linear direction and intensity. The characteristic dark plum fruit flavours reflecting the domaine’s style for the vintage are balanced with a lovely degree of purity. This is long and very rewarding.

Neal Martin, December 2016, Score: 93-95
The 2015 Volnay 1er Cru Caillerets come from 0.5-hectare of vines replanted in the late 1990s, augmented by an acquisition by Guillaume d'Angerville in 2013 of vines adjacent to that original parcel. This now represents around one-third of the blend. The bouquet leans more towards red fruit with damp undergrowth/woodland aromas, a hint of iodine with aeration. The palate is very well balanced with a smooth and supple entry. This is a more sensual Caillerets compared to the 2014, caressing the mouth, with fine delineation towards the white pepper-tinged finish. This constitutes one of the domaine's outstanding offerings in 2015 - sophisticated and sensual. Drink 2019-2038

Arriving at the family Château in Volnay and standing in the famed Clos des Ducs overlooking the village and its other 1er crus below always gives me a huge thrill. Volnay
A red wine appellation only, wines from Volnay might be considered the most revered of southern Burgundy. They have been celebrated since the 18th century for their delicacy. But they are not fruit forward like those of Beaune or Chorey Lès Beaune nor have the brooding structure of Pommard.Instead, they have superb linearity, focus and poise while sheathed in velvety tannin. This slightly reticent personality comes out even more with a bit of age, though some can be approached very young. There are no grand cru vineyards in Volnay, but there are some excellent premier cru examples including Volnay Les Champans and Volnay Les Caillerets. Chardonnay grown in the shared Santenots vineyard must be labelled as Meursault.
