    In 2015 the Drouhins decided to whole bunch ferment 40% of their Clos de Vougeot fruit producing a lovely multi-layered style. There is a tremendous balance between dark winter fruits and muscular Clos de Vougeot structure. A smouldering smoky finish, with a brooding masculine edge. Very good.

    The 2015 Clos Vougeot Grand Cru, which comes from the upper slopes of the vineyard, has a rich and opulent bouquet with precocious mulberry and blueberry scents, violet and desiccated orange peel. The 30% whole bunches is discretely embedded in the black fruit, lending crunchiness to the texture. This displays impressive depth; notwithstanding infectious energy and a vibrant finish. Excellent - this is one of the best grand crus from Drouhin-Laroze this vintage. Drink Date 2020 - 2045

    A markedly ripe but notably fresh and expressive nose of liqueur-like dark berries and earth nuances is trimmed in soft wood toast. There is outstanding richness, volume and mid-palate concentration supporting the velvet-textured broad-shouldered flavors that possess superb complexity on the wonderfully long finale. Like the Chambolle villages cuvée, this isn’t refined but it delivers fine quality. (92-95)/2032+

Clos de Vougeot is a Grand Cru appellation situated in the heart of the Cote de Nuits producing only red wines from the Pinot Noir grape. The vines are enclosed within a single walled vineyard built by monks in the 12th and 14th Centuries. With 47.54 hectares under vine Clos de Vougeot is the largest Grand Cru vineyard in the Cote d'Or.
