Goedhuis, December 2015
A beautifully feminine style, with stunningly perfumed aromas of violets and blackberries. A really bright mouthfeel, with layers of purity. An absolute standout wine; refined, elegant and just pleading to be drunk. A great glass.

Neal Martin, April 2016, Score: 90
The 2014 Echézeaux Grand Cru, which was taken from cask, has a well-defined blackberry and cranberry scented bouquet, backward at the moment, a little pinched perhaps. The palate is medium-bodied with supple red berry fruit, a keen line of acidity and satisfying depth. There is a touch of spice towards the finish of this very decent, structured Echézeaux. Drink: 2019 - 2033. 90/100

Son of the family who used to own the illustrious Domaine de la Pousse d’Or, Nicolas Potel set up his négociant label Maison Roche de Bellene in 2008. A Bourguignon through and through, Nicolas’ unrivalled local network of thoroughly reliable grower-suppliers allows him to source fruit from the most sought-after parcels in the Côte. He also produces a selection of domaine wines (under Domaine de Bellene). The emphasis remains to this day on well-sited venerable vines and viticulture and the Maison Roche de Bellene label is the superlative source of attractive, well-priced Burgundy wines. Nicolas chose the name ‘Bellene' in honour of the ancient Roman name for Beaune.Read less
