  • Burghound, January 2016, Score: 92-95

As is usually the case this is more deeply pitched with black cherry, plum and red berry liqueur aromas that are liberally laced with warm earth and underbrush. Here too there is a palpable sense of energy to the sleek, muscular and delineated flavors that also exude plenty of minerality on the moderately austere, serious and beautifully well-balanced finale that delivers stunningly good length. This isn't quite as refined as the Griotte but it's every bit as complex and a bit more powerful as well. Lovely.

Domaine Claude Dugat

Region

Chapelle Chambertin

One of the nine Grand Crus vineyards within the Gevrey Chambertin area. Chapelle-Chambertin's vineyards are on gentle slopes, sheltered from the elements by woods to the north. The thin rocky soil forces the vines to work hard. The exceptional wines produced in Chapelle-Chambertin are complex, powerful and incredibly long-lasting.
