    Redigaffi is 100% Merlot and so ranks alongside the great Masseto from Ornellaia, and wouldn't look out of place alongside certain vintages of the great Chateau Petrus in Pomerol. What sets it apart from Masseto is the extraordinary level of elegance, complexity and finesse that it achieves in comparison to Masseto's more powerful, concentrated style. Given the strict quality control there is very little produced (only 600-750 cases, a quarter of the production of Petrus/and half that of Masseto). It first burst onto the scene when Parker awarded the 2000 the perfect 100 points, since then the word has start to get out and this 100% Merlot beauty has become incredibly desirable.

    Superb wine here, offering aromas of dark berries, tobacco, tar, blackberries and black cherries. It changes all the time and is very complex with hints of meat. On the palate it's full-bodied and very well refined, showing wonderful tannin tension and polished texture. It closes with an amazing finish that lasts for minutes and turns to pure fruit. Better in 2018 but a fabulous young wine to taste now. A modern example of the legendary 1997 but more elegant.
