Goedhuis, January 2014
This lower lying 1er Cru with its ridiculously low yields of 12hl/ha has produced a wonderfully intense wine so typical of low yielding vines. Bright wild strawberry flavours, this has a fresh mineral undertone, with a soft grainy tannic core. An ideal early drinking style.

Jancis Robinson, January 2014, Score: 17
Pale ruby. Just a touch of something mossy and indistinct on the nose. But then the most seductive texture on the palate! Lovely combination of ripe fruit and freshness. Really very attractive indeed with no skinniness but no sweetness either. Really most impressive. Drink 2015-2023
Producer
Domaine Chandon de Briailles
The sibling team at this stunning domaine (Francois and Claude de Nicolay) is most definitely a winning one. Their biggest influence has been to convert the estate firstly to organic and now to biodynamic methods of viticulture and vinification. The wines focus on sensual flavours and refinement, these are not powerful, but the aged vines allow for wines of extraordinary texture and complexity.
Region
Savigny-lès-Beaune
The picturesque village of Savigny-lès-Beaune, just to the north of Beaune, is a relatively prolific producer in Burgundian terms. Less serious than its neighbours, Pommard and Volnay, these are nonethless delicious wines - perfumed, delicate and elegant. A tiny amount of white is produced.
