Goedhuis, January 2014
With dense black fruit flavours, this is a full and compact style with an arrogantly masculine air. Great weight of fruit with tightly firm structured berried flavours. Very long and complete, with real ageing capacity.

Neal Martin, December 2013, Score: 91-93
The 2012 Clos de Vougeot Grand Cru comes from 0.69-hectare of vine from 3 parcels, two close to the château and the other down towards the Route Nationale. It has a feminine, floral bouquet with touches of bergamot and raspberry preserve developing in the glass. These aromatics are very alluring even at this primordial stage. The palate appears vibrant with crisp tannins; underpinned by taut red berry fruit with fine mineralité flourishing towards the finish. This is very classy - another over-achieving 2012 wine from Burgundy's most famous clos.

Burghound, January 2015, Score: 93
(from two separate parcels, one to the left of the Château and another situated to the right by the Méo-Camuzet vines). A deft touch of oak sets off the earthy dark berry fruit aromas that display good lift and density. There is very good volume to the delicious and intense medium weight plus flavors that also possess relatively fine-grained tannins that add a relatively refined texture to the brooding and mildly austere yet hugely persistent finish. While the nose is not as fresh as the best in the range I suspect that in this case the aromas won’t turn prematurely secondary in character. Drink 2027+

Smoky and mineral – absolutely super quality of flavours, with genuine minerality and plenty of crunchy red fruit too. Absolutely brilliant – really bursts forth with flavour. Seductive, bewitching. Drink 2017-2037

The Hudelots are an ancient Burgundian family whose ancestry can be traced back to Chambolle since before the French Revolution. Needless to say, wine has been in their blood for almost as long. Alain Huedlot began his wine career in 1954 working for his father and other local growers. At the ripe young age of 20, he started renting vineyards from his family in Chambolle Musigny until eventually receiving other small parcels from his father. Following a passionate and whirlwind romance with the granddaughter of Charles Noellat, he married despite protests from her family. This controversial union ensured additional vineyards despite a harrying and lengthy legal battle. Today the domaine owns a total of 10 well-situated hectares, which are split over 5 communes. Alain Hudelot’s grandson Charles Van Canneyt is a man on a mission. Having arrived at the domaine from Champagne only six years ago, he is already considered one of the brightest young talents in the region. These wines are wonderful examples of traditionally styled Burgundy - superbly pure and focused with an undeniable sense of terroir.Read less
