    Deep and yet bright red cherry colour. This wine is a fabulous mix between elegant silky Vosne red fruits as the wine enters the palate developing into strength and masculinity on the finish. This is a wine of real composure with masses of class.

    (from .48 ha parcel of 65+ year old vines). This chameleonesque terroir can be either mostly Nuits or mostly Vosne but in 2010, it really does seem to be a beautiful hybrid of the two as the spicy and ripe dark berry fruit aromas also display a hint of the sauvage along with noticeably earth nuances. The flavors however are much more Nuits in character as they are rich, powerful, dense and concentrated with excellent phenolic maturity to the structural elements. This broad-shouldered effort possesses fine balance and I very much like the overall sense of harmony plus it should reward 12 to 15 years of cellar time. 2022+Comments: sweet spot outstanding!

He only has around 4.25 hectares of vines, therefore the quantity that he makes is particularly small. Traditionally, Burgundy domaines are renowned for being minute in size, and he is definitely amongst the smallest. In addition, he has some of the most exceptional vineyards, which read like a Who's Who list of the Côte de Nuits, many of which are located next to grand crus sites. This combination is lethal for allocations. Too little wine with too many open hands all waiting for their fair share. SInce 2011 his talented son, Sébastien, has been running the domaine.Read less

Region

Nuits Saint Georges

The second largest town after Beaune, Nuits St. Georges is known for ample wines that have textured tannins and rich fruit. Unlike other famous Côte de Nuits villages, it has no Grand Crus but does have a handful of exceptional premier cru vineyards such as Clos de l'Arlot, Les Pruliers and AuxMurgers. Its wines can be occasionally rustic, and this sets them apart from many of the more northern appellations as well as from the neighbouring Côte de Beaune whose wines (apart from Pommard) tend to be less structured and more fruit forward. This is no doubt due to a slightly increased presence of clay especially on the Primeaux-Prissey area of the appellation. Notable producers include Domaine de l'Arlot, Jean Grivot and Meo-Camuzet.
