Goedhuis, December 2011
A typically masculine Clos Vougeot, with strong, spiced and earthy dark berry fruit aromas and flavours. A tightly knit and structured wine, expressing warmth of fruit and great depth on the finish.

Burghound, January 2012, Score: 92-94
(this and the Latricières are from the oldest vines of the Domaine and this wine comes from a superbly situated 1 ha parcel of Clos de Vougeot high on the hill). A slightly riper blend of red and blue pinot fruit, violets and plenty of warm earth also suffuses the rich, full-bodied and very serious broad-shouldered flavors. This enjoys an abundance of tannin-buffering dry extract that confers a sappy texture to the driving, complex and hugely long finish. This is a first-rate example of this uneven appellation and well worth considering. 2025+

Great energy on the nose. Dense fruit on the palate. Really rich and lively. Great vibrancy. Very impressive. Long and rich. Drink 2016-2028

They have an embarrassment of riches within their armoury of four 1ers Crus and six exceptional Grands Crus, culminating with plots of both Clos de Bèze and Le Musigny. They also boast one of the finest two storey cellars in the Côte d’Or, built by members of the Prussian military on their way back from the Hundred Years War, with ideal conditions maintaining perfect temperatures for Philippe’s preferred two-year élevage in cask. The wines are ripe, concentrated, and often earthy and textured. They offer terrific value, particularly in Clos de Vougeot Grand Cru.Read less
