Goedhuis, December 2010
This is an extraordinarily charming Clos Vougeot and not the clumsy masculinity of some. A wine of volume and richness, with deliciously ripe, sweet fruit flavours. The layered undertones support the gently present tannins and there is masses of class and finesse on the finish.

Burghound, January 2013, Score: 91?
(from two separate parcels, one to the left of the Château and another situated to the right by theMéo-Camuzet vines; the 2010 was vinified with about 10% whole clusters). Noticeable reduction dominates the nose and it extends to the palate. There is excellent richness to the impressively scaled and overtly powerful flavors that possess fine balance and focus on the lingering finish. Lovely juice with a bit less youthful austerity than I typically find with this wine. As I noted in the introduction however, my score gives the benefit of the doubt that the reduction is a passing phase. Among the four 2010s reviewed here though the Clos de Vougeot is the most problematic. Drink 2022+

Burghound, January 2012, Score: 92-94
(from two separate parcels, one to the left of the Château and another situated to the right by the Méo-Camuzet vines; the 2010 was vinified with about 10% whole clusters). A very mild floral hint adds elegance to the ripe red berry fruit and distinctly earth-inflected nose. There is excellent richness to the impressively scaled and overtly powerful flavors that possess fine balance and focus on the lingering finish. Lovely juice with a bit less youthful austerity than I typically find with this wine. 2022+

The Hudelots are an ancient Burgundian family whose ancestry can be traced back to Chambolle since before the French Revolution. Needless to say, wine has been in their blood for almost as long. Alain Huedlot began his wine career in 1954 working for his father and other local growers. At the ripe young age of 20, he started renting vineyards from his family in Chambolle Musigny until eventually receiving other small parcels from his father. Following a passionate and whirlwind romance with the granddaughter of Charles Noellat, he married despite protests from her family. This controversial union ensured additional vineyards despite a harrying and lengthy legal battle. Today the domaine owns a total of 10 well-situated hectares, which are split over 5 communes. Alain Hudelot’s grandson Charles Van Canneyt is a man on a mission. Having arrived at the domaine from Champagne only six years ago, he is already considered one of the brightest young talents in the region. These wines are wonderful examples of traditionally styled Burgundy - superbly pure and focused with an undeniable sense of terroir.Read less
