    We tasted multiple renditions of the Pézerolles from various barrels and each was just delicious, albeit slightly different. This looks to be an impressive wine with a spicy, opulent palate that offers a solid core of dark berry fruit and notes of brown sugar. Finishes discreet and stylish.

    An understated soupçon of wood does not interfere with the transparency of the pretty and ripe red pinot fruit, spice and earth aromas. The supple, round and beautifully detailed medium-bodied flavors possess plenty of dry extract that buffers the firm tannins on the mineral-inflected and impressively persistent finish. This should be lovely in time though prepare to wait at least a decade. Drink 2019+

Pommard

A long popular appellation, Pommard is yet another exclusive red wine area which produces by far the most structured reds of the Côte de Beaune. It extracts rich body and long ageing potential from the limestone/iron-rich clay soil. Some examples can be markedly rustic, yet as time has passed and winemaking know-how has improved, Pommard's wines are becoming softer and more approachable when young. Its vines cover 317 hectares of which over a third are premier cru vineyards. Several have pronounced following and even one, Les Rugiens, is being pushed to become a grand cru.
