Burghound, January 2011, Score: 90-93
Heavy reduction and copious wood make for a very difficult nose. However, the very rich, round, opulent and suave medium weight plus flavors possess excellent dry extract levels that buffer the very firm tannins on the attractively enduring finish. This possesses fine potential despite being youthfully awkward today. 2021+.

The Lamarche family have been in Vosne Romanée since 1740. Over the years and through multiple marriages, they were able to expand their earthly possessions and increase their vineyard holdings to include various parcels and plots across 11 appellations. Their most famous vineyard, which is also their flagship, is La Grande Rue, a 1.65 hectare plots in Vosne Romanée which became an official grand cru in 1992. Today the domaine is run by François Lamarche and his delightfully cheeky wife, Marie-Blanche. Their daughter, Nicole, and their niece, Nathalie, help with the vineyards and winemaking. More modern in thinking, they age all of their village, premier cru and grand cru wines in 100% new oak barrels.Read less
Region
Echézeaux
One of two Grand Crus within the Flagey-Echezeaux area right in the heart of the Cote de Nuits. Relatively large and consequently diverse for a Grand Cru, the better Echézeaux wines undoubtedly deserve this status. As always in Burgundy vineyard location and grower is critical.
