Goedhuis, November 2009
The 08 offers a deliciously tight nose that leads to a feminine palate of sweet raspberry and cherry. Beautifully balanced. Despite its softer side, its power surges forward on the finish.

Burghound, January 2010, Score: 88-91
A clean, expressive and pure nose of spicy red berry and floral hints leads to seductive light to barely middle weight flavors that possess a lacy mouth feel though the tension-filled finish is linear and vibrant. This is light on its feet but does not lack for punch or flavor authority. Drink: 2014+.

Burghound, January 2011, Score: 88
An airy, expressive and transparent nose of spicy red berry and floral hints leads to seductive light to middle weight flavors that possess a lacy mouth feel though the tension-filled finish is linear and vibrant. This is light on its feet but does not lack for punch or flavor authority. 2014+.

Jancis Robinson, November 2009, Score: 16
Low-key nose and very energetic underneath. Racy and savoury. Neat and lively with a skein of chestnut flavour. Still a little bit of tannin to shed but grown-up wine with lots of savour. 2012-2018

Sylvain Cathiard is one of the top growers in Vosne Romanée, a region not shy of exceptional talent. He only has around 4.25 hectares of vines, therefore the quantity that he makes is particularly small. Traditionally, Burgundy domaines are renowned for being minute in size, and he is definitely amongst the smallest. In addition, he has some of the most exceptional vineyards, which read like a Who's Who list of the Côte de Nuits, many of which are located next to grand crus sites. This combination is lethal for allocations. Too little wine with too many open hands all waiting for their fair share. SInce 2011 his talented son, Sébastien, has been running the domaine.Read less
Region
Vosne Romanée
The vineyards of the modest village of Vosne Romanée are arguably the most sought after in the Côte d'Or. It is host to excellent Village and Premier Cru wines, but it is its most famous Grand Crusthat truly stand out: Romanée-Conti, La Tâche, Richebourg, Grands Echézeaux, Echézeaux, Romanée St. Vivant and La Romanée as well as Cros Parentoux, a Premier Cru vineyard which attracts Grand Cru attention (and prices). Vosne-Romanée can be remarkably robust and powerful, yet be charming and fleshy giving it one of the most diverse styles of the region.
