Goedhuis, January 2009
Les Murgers is located next to Boudots and close to Vosne Romanée. Due to its more northerlylocation, it tends to produce wines that have a bit more finesse than more southern planted Nuits.Sylvain's 2007 is a confident sort with a relaxed personality and a ‘nothing to prove' attitude.Plush yet profound, it exudes a dense palate and a fresh uplifting finish.

that also suffuses the full-bodied and tautlymuscular flavors that possess a bit more refinement than usual, all wrapped in a finish that possesses both excellent depth and length. A Murgers with a certain delicacy rather than its usual overt power. In a word, terrific. Drink: 2015+.Comments: sweet spot outstanding!

Jancis Robinson, January 2009, Score: 18
Between Vosne and Nuits, and next to Boudots, this parcel has yielded a wine that could have been a grand cru on the palate, even if there was not yet much on the nose. Lact and vibrant with lots of fine tannins and great integrity. Great stuff for much longer term drinking than most 2007s. Very lively and flattering - vins de plaisir says a visiting Frenchman.

He only has around 4.25 hectares of vines, therefore the quantity that he makes is particularly small. Traditionally, Burgundy domaines are renowned for being minute in size, and he is definitely amongst the smallest. In addition, he has some of the most exceptional vineyards, which read like a Who's Who list of the Côte de Nuits, many of which are located next to grand crus sites. This combination is lethal for allocations. Too little wine with too many open hands all waiting for their fair share. SInce 2011 his talented son, Sébastien, has been running the domaine.Read less

Region
Nuits Saint Georges
The second largest town after Beaune, Nuits St. Georges is known for ample wines that have textured tannins and rich fruit. Unlike other famous Côte de Nuits villages, it has no Grand Crus but does have a handful of exceptional premier cru vineyards such as Clos de l'Arlot, Les Pruliers and AuxMurgers. Its wines can be occasionally rustic, and this sets them apart from many of the more northern appellations as well as from the neighbouring Côte de Beaune whose wines (apart from Pommard) tend to be less structured and more fruit forward. This is no doubt due to a slightly increased presence of clay especially on the Primeaux-Prissey area of the appellation. Notable producers include Domaine de l'Arlot, Jean Grivot and Meo-Camuzet.
