This 100% Chardonnay sourced from the premier cru vineyards around Vertus in the Côte des Blancs is a step up in refinement and complexity and shows off the Goerg group’s skill in the cellar. Brilliant pale lemon yellow with a fine, persistent mousse. Classical Blanc de Blancs characteristics of citrus, orchard fruit, and brioche fill the glass. The base of the blend is 2009, and the palate has a satisfying creamy texture. This modestly priced Blanc de Blancs offers length, breadth and complexity. Goedhuis & Co
Romain Reverdy has made a wonderful Sancerre in 2017. His vines around the village of Verdigny enjoyed an excellent growing season, which ensured good phenolic ripeness whilst retaining Sancerre’s signature nervous acidity. This wine has a pretty floral elegance, creamy texture, and brisk mineral tension. Goedhuis & Co
Positioned on the Volnay side of Meursault, with more clay in the soil than his other Bourgogne cuvée Oligocène. This is a well textured and full style of Bourgogne Blanc expressing a very good degree of ripeness, with balanced concentration on the finish. Goedhuis & Co
Despite its excellent position perched above the cluster of grands crus, lying alongside Les Preuses, Vaulorent remains a relatively unknown premier cru. It tends to have the weight and power of its grands crus neighbours, but with more open, upfront fruit. Billaud Simon’s 2015 is a great example of this, where the rich weight of fruit has an ample volume and smooth, creamy charm. Goedhuis & Co
The 2016 Chardonnay Estate offers up aromas of lime cordial, vanilla pod and pastry cream that are marked but not dominated by a framing of new wood. On the palate, the wine is medium-bodied, delicately textural and racy, with good concentration, lovely natural balance and a flavorful finish. If this delicious Chardonnay's new oak component synergies with it more completely, it will score even higher. 92 points, William Kelly, The Wine Advocate. Tasted Apr 2018
Very pale rose petal pink, this is an absolutely charming example from St Baillon. It is by far and away the best vintage from new owners, the Delon family. It is lightly scented with red berries, wild herbs, and the sea breeze. The palate is crisp and fresh, with a pleasingly round volume and length. The perfect summer glass. Goedhuis & Co
Ten years on the 2008s are beginning to sing. This has the sweet, mellow tones of classical left back claret. A smoky body with some dark fruits, smooth ripe tannins and the vintage’s characteristic freshness all play along with the maturing notes of leather and spice. Excellent value. Goedhuis & Co
The Leoville Barton 2008 has a very ripe, opulent bouquet that reminded me of Poyferre! It has impressive definition and purity; very good lift but there is a lot of oak to be subsumed. The palate is medium-bodied with a succulent, velvety entry that disguises its serious tannic backbone. It is very stylish and suave, although there is just a touch of dryness towards the finish. 91 points, Neal Martin, Wine Journal. Tasted Mar 2012
An enveloping nose of dark berry fruit liqueur, spice and soft earth aromas complements the equally earthy, pure and vibrant medium-bodied flavors that possess a lovely minerality and mouth feel on the firmly but not aggressively structured, persistent and well-balanced finish. Worth a look. 89-91 points, Allen Meadow, Burghound, Tasted Jan 2014
A restrained and all but mute nose only grudgingly reveals notes of red and dark pinot fruit, earth and sauvage hints. The underlying minerality is even more prominent than it usually is, with detailed and highly energetic flavors that possess good drive as the tannins are firm and mildly austere. This is old school Fixin. Drink 2019+ Goedhuis & Co
It has a fragrant bouquet: the fruit a tinge blacker than the Vosne-Romanee with blackcurrant joining the chorus line. The oak is neatly integrated but present. The palate is taut and fresh on the entry. It does not possess great depth like many a Lavieres, but it displays a vibrant citric finish that lends vigor and freshness. This will probably be earlier drinking than other 2012 from Grivot. 90 points, Neal Martin, The Wine Advocate. Tasted Dec2013
A beautiful example of the expression of Sangiovese from this fine vintage. Aged for16 months in mid sized oak barrels, this has shining bright summer fruit aromas, with hints of damsons and sloes. A finely textured wine with soft rounded tannins and gentlefreshness on the finish. An extremely open and giving wine. Drinking : 2017-2020 Goedhuis & Co
The 2016 Estate Pinot Noir unfurls in the glass with a bouquet of wild plum, red cherry, dried flowers and smoky herbs that reveals lovely incipient complexity. On the palate, the wine is medium-bodied, silky and supple, with an expansive attack, excellent mid-palate depth, and a lingering, tangy finish. This really impresses for its textural seamlessness and stylistic maturity. 93 points, William Kelley, The Wine Advocate. Tasted Apr 2018
