The Times Top Wines for Summer | Goedhuis Burgundies

Two delicious burgundies from our portfolio have been featured in The Times Top 100 Wines for Summer series, over the past few weeks. The Times wine critic Jane MacQuitty singled out the 2021 Mâcon-Monbellet from Mallory and Benjamin Talmard (£180/12 inv VAT) as "gorgeously expressive", and she also gave the nod to Charles Audoin's 2018 Marsannay Les Favieres (£179/6 inc VAT) in her top reds for summer.

  • Goedhuis, May 2022

One of our best value drinkers on the list. This is a bona fide Goedhuis favourite and a wine that we have been buying for decades. The 2021 is yet another accomplished example from this Burgundy estate. It has fresh, ripe stone fruit flavours and on the palate there is zippy acidity that makes this Macon lively and fun to drink. Absolutely delicous!

  • Jane MacQuitty, July 2022

Mallory Talmard and her husband, Benjamin, based at Uchizy, are my kind of macconais producers with gorgeously expressive white burgundies that punch well above their weight. This is an elegant 2021 bursting with floral, citrus blosson and lemon zest-styled fruit.

  • Goedhuis, January 2020

People are catching on to the brilliance of this Marsannay-based producer and highlighting the excellent quality and value of these wines from an appellation tipped for 1er Cru status. From a mid-sloped vineyard that produces beautifully floral Pinot, this 2018 Favières is replete with wild alpine berries and spring flowers. We love its tight, controlled palate and sweet, rounded finish. A real star buy.

  • Burghound, January 2020, Score: 90-92

There is better freshness still to the pretty and attractively layered aromas of red cherry, raspberry and evident floral elements. The punchy and appealingly textured flavors exude evident salinity on the impressively complex and lingering finish where the same cherry lozenge character is present. 2028+

  • Jane MacQuitty, July 2022

Unsung and undervalued Marsannay, at the gateway to the Cote d'Or, is rapidly becoming an inside-track spot for red burgundy. This crunchy yet creamy, red-fruited 2018 made from 50-year-old vines, with lovely beetrooty fruit, is a humdinger.
