Domaine Simon Bize is a substantial estate by Burgundian standards, with 22 hectares mainly in the appellation of Savigny Lès Beaune including six very diverse 1ers Crus and two fine Grands Crus parcels in Corton Charlemagne and Latricières Chambertin. Just like DRC, the domaine has continued the traditional practice of working with whole bunches during the vinification. Having drifted out of fashion in the 80s and 90s, whole bunch vinification is now receiving renewed credibility throughout the Côtes.

    The 2022 Bourgogne Perrières has a fragrant bouquet with Golden Delicious, lime, and just a touch of peach skin. The medium-bodied palate has fine weight. It’s very primal at the moment, with plenty of extract on the finish. This will be a textural wine. Fine. Drinking Window: 2024-2027.

At Simon Bize the fruit handling is very gentle to support whole bunch vinification, allowing them to produce very stylish wines which possess the sweetness of fruit and subtle tannic core which are so typical of the wines of Savigny.

Simon Bize’s great-grandson Patrick managed the domaine masterfully for 40 years until 2013, since which time his widow Chisa has directed this fine estate with equal success. In 2020 Chisa handed over to their son Hugo and newly appointed technical director, Eric Pignal, a Pinot Noir specialist with experience in Sonoma and at Domaine Dujac.

  • IN BOND prices exclude UK Duty and VAT. Wines can be purchased In Bond for storage in Private Reserves or another bonded warehouse, or for export to non-EU countries. Duty and VAT must be paid before delivery can take place.

  • RETAIL prices include UK Duty and VAT. Wines for UK delivery can only be purchased this way.

  • Duty Paid wines have been removed from Bond and cannot subsequently be returned to Bond.  VAT is payable on Duty Paid wines. These wines must remain Duty Paid but can be purchased as such for storage subject to VAT.

  • En Primeur wines can only be purchased In Bond. On arrival in the UK these wines can either be stored In Bond in Private Reserves or another bonded warehouse or delivered directly to you. When you decide to take delivery, Duty and VAT at the prevailing rate become payable.
