En Primeur | Domaine Bruno Colin

The village of Chassagne Montrachet has many long and established family names on its CV, but none more so than the Colin family. Whether under their own name or by marriage, they are interconnected with just about all the great houses in the appellation. Bruno is the son of Michel Colin-Deleger and has inherited an enviable portfolio of 22 appellations covering 8.75 hectares from his parents. His first vintage was back in 1993 and, having worked with his father and brother up to 2003, he decided to create his own domaine in 2004.

The installation of a new cuverie and a strikingly modern reception area just prior to lockdown means that Bruno now has a new armoury to continue his quest to be one of the finest names in the village. He has 8 different 1ers Crus vineyards in his portfolio and an ability, like any good parent with an army of children, to let each one reflect its own individual personality. He treats all his vineyards the same, and so this is the perfect destination for any buyer to discover the unique characteristics of terroir and style in Chassagne Montrachet. Bruno has made an exemplary range of wines in 2020, full of confidence, justifying his reputation as one of the go-to white wine estates in the Côte de Beaune.

Brilliant, lime green tinged colour, perfumed floral white fruits, apples and pears. Quite a full-bodied Bourgogne Blanc, with a tinge of warm buttered toast, good length, charming and forward.

Bruno owns 1.7 hectares in 9 different locations to make his village Chassagne Montrachet, resulting in as complete an example as anybody could wish to find. Pale straw in colour, with a scent of fresh walnut and clotted cream. This is a deeply textured wine with grip and structure. Very full with rewarding length on the finish.

Brilliant scarlet colour, this is full of dark cherry and black fruits. A very sensual style, open and giving. The softness of both the tannins and acidity means this will give lots of youthful pleasure.
