Goedhuis, January 2007
A full-bodied Charmes offering aromatic notes of roasted coffee and treacle tart that flesh out on the palate resurfacing as deep, chewy berry flavours. It is hedonistic and finishes long with notable freshness.

Burghound, January 2007, Score: 90-93
As ripe as the En Champs is, this is riper still yet it remains aromatically fresh and bright with intense cherry and raspberry notes on the spicy, pure and earthy nose where the spice and earth notes continue onto the delicious, rich and full-bodied flavors built on a base of concentrated fruit. This is classy if not overly complex at the moment but if the depth comes in time, my range could be conservative. (90-93)/2015+

Jancis Robinson, January 2007, Score: 18
Very dark. Sweet with notes of compost. Rather dangerous and more edgy than some Charmes Chambertin though viurtually all Geantet P wines could be suffixed Charmes... Round and certainy charming but with lots of edge and interest too.

Taking its name from founders Edmond Geantet and Bernadette Pansiot back in 1954, this domaine has grown from 7 to 22 hectares under the direction of their son Vincent Geantet and his children Fabien and Emilie. Having outgrown their historical cellars, they invested in a new winery, and their wines show all the advantages that this additional space provides. Traditionally, they de-stem 100% of their fruit and allow the must a few days of cool maceration prior to fermentation starting, which enhances the colour and aromatic content of their wines. Through a combination of old vines (plenty of centenaries in their vineyards), sumptuous fruit concentration and generous new oak they make a hedonistic style of Burgundy.Read less

Charmes Chambertin
Charmes-Chambertin is one of the nine Grand Crus vineyards within the Gevrey Chambertin area. On gentle slopes, sheltered from the elements by woods to the north, gravelly soil forces the vines to work hard. Relatively large for a Grand Cru appellation, it is hard to generalise about the wines. Often intensely perfumed and seductive, Charmes-Chambertin can be approachable earlier than its Grand Crus neighbours.
