    A bouquet of dark forest fruits with hints of mocha and vanilla pod. One feels the brightness and freshness of this higher lying vineyard in the appellation of Gevrey Chambertin. Very textured with layers of rich fruit and earthy undertones. Long, it will age very well.

    Good dark red. Pure, cool, very reticent aromas of raspberry, redcurrant and licorice plus a positive hint of mustard seed. Backward and unforthcoming on the palate as well, showing subtle saline mineral and soil tones but little easy sweetness or fleshiness. Finishes with slightly granular but ripe tannins and very good length.

    The old vine concentration is appealingly evident on this intensely coloured Premier Cru from the slopes above Gevrey-Chambertin. It’s a rich, structured wine with notes of mint and black cherry, chalky acidity and a backbone of tannin. The finish is extremely long and fine here. 2024-34

The greatest village in terms of notable grand cru vineyards, Gevrey Chambertin has no less than 9 of them including its most famous Chambertin and Chambertin Clos de Bèze, and includes a premier cru vineyard that many people deem grand cru in quality - Clos St. Jacques. It encompasses approximately 400 hectares under vine also making it the largest top quality vineyard area in the Côte de Nuits. Gevrey-Chambertin has many followers who seek out its deeply coloured, robust and textured wines. They are often firmer than the neighbouring appellations of Chambolle Musigny and Vosne Romanée and can take several years to soften once released. Due to its size and reputation, the list of excellent producers is noteworthy and many are worth seeking out.
