    Beautifully striking style, with perfumed aromas of violets. Lovely floral notes, with driven red cherry fruit flavours. A very clean and balanced wine, with lots of life ahead of it.

    The 2015 Vosne-Romanée 1er Cru Aux Reignots has a gorgeous bouquet with mineral-rich red cherry, kirsch and strawberry fruit, quite open and expressive yet still beautifully defined. The palate is medium-bodied with crisp acidity, sorbet-fresh with hints of orange rind permeating the vibrant, fresh, tensile, almost tart red fruit, with a crisp and vivacious, animated finish. This barrel sample had so much energy that I almost asked Sebastien Cathiard for a leash. Electric! Drink 2019-2038

    Mild reduction shaves the top notes from the otherwise spicy dark berry fruit and sandalwood-scented nose. The mouth feel of the overtly stony middle weight flavors is notably finer though they don’t possess the same size, weight and power, all wrapped in a strikingly well-delineated and intensely saline-suffused finish that delivers sneaky good length. This is a first-rate example of Reignots. Sweet spot. Outstanding. (91-94)/2027+

He only has around 4.25 hectares of vines, therefore the quantity that he makes is particularly small. Traditionally, Burgundy domaines are renowned for being minute in size, and he is definitely amongst the smallest. In addition, he has some of the most exceptional vineyards, which read like a Who's Who list of the Côte de Nuits, many of which are located next to grand crus sites. Vosne Romanée

The vineyards of the modest village of Vosne Romanée are arguably the most sought after in the Côte d'Or. It is host to excellent Village and Premier Cru wines, but it is its most famous Grand Crusthat truly stand out: Romanée-Conti, La Tâche, Richebourg, Grands Echézeaux, Echézeaux, Romanée St. Vivant and La Romanée as well as Cros Parentoux, a Premier Cru vineyard which attracts Grand Cru attention (and prices). Vosne-Romanée can be remarkably robust and powerful, yet be charming and fleshy giving it one of the most diverse styles of the region.
