Goedhuis, December 2016
This exceptional premier cru in Pernand with its south easterly facing slopes produces a remarkable wine balancing finesse with sweetness of fruit. This is full of red fruits and elegant on the entry, with layers of flavours unfolding to create an ample and concentrated palate, finishing on a floral and refined touch.

Neal Martin, December 2016, Score: 88-90
The 2015 Pernand-Vergelesses 1er Cru Ile de Vergelesses comes from four hectares of vine on the south side of the parcel that faces east. It has a composed bouquet of blackberry and briary, well defined with a touch of sous-bois that intensifies with time in the glass. The palate is medium-bodied with a little more backbone than the Les Verglesses, although the oak feels a little conspicuous towards the finish and just detracts from terroir expression. With time in the glass, that finish just flattens out and I ended up just tweaking my score down a notch. Drink Date 2017 - 2024

Domaine Chandon de Briailles
The sibling team at this stunning domaine (Francois and Claude de Nicolay) is most definitely a winning one. Their biggest influence has been to convert the estate firstly to organic and now to biodynamic methods of viticulture and vinification. The wines focus on sensual flavours and refinement, these are not powerful, but the aged vines allow for wines of extraordinary texture and complexity.Region
Pernand Vergelesses
With its neighbours, Ladoix Serrigny and Aloxe-Corton, Pernand Vergelesses has its own village and premier cru appellations but shares the two grand crus: Corton, a red made from Pinot Noir, and Corton Charlemagne, a white made from Chardonnay. The limestone marl soil is well-suited to growing Chardonnay and the resulting white wines are crisp and mineral with a good capacity for ageing. Pinot Noir is planted in areas of redder iron-rich soil and the best vineyards produce charmingly soft red wines with classic notes of raspberries and violets.
