The Keeper: Chablis 1er Cru Beauroy Pommier 2012

Archive

Isabelle and Denis Pommier’s Chablis 1er Cru Beauroy was Jane MacQuitty’s “Keeper” in The Times yesterday! The wine had already garnered excellent write ups from Jancis Robinson and Burghound on release.

Jane says of the domaine and wine:

Isabelle and Denis Pommier’s stylish barrel and stainless steel-aged Premier Cru Chablis rarely disappoint. Denis inherited just two hectares and with his wife Isabelle has built up the domaine to an impressive 16 hectares, with Petit Chablis and Chablis also in the range. The quality has risen every year, and from the 2014 vintage on, the Pommier’s domaine will be fully accredited as organic.

Tuck in to this fresh, nutty, minerally chablis now, or cellar it until 2017 for those verdant, mature Chablis flavours to emerge.

“A ripe yellow orchard fruit nose displays top notes of mineral reduction, citrus and a softly exotic character. There is fine richness to the generously proportioned and luscious medium weight flavors that also possess plenty of palate coating dry extract before terminating in a lemony and moderately dry finish where a touch of wood surfaces. This delicious effort should drink well young. Drink 2016+” 90 Points, Allen Meadows

“Brilliantly forthright fruit with a tremendous chalkiness and intensity. Smooth, rounded and bursting with juicy green fruit. Drink 2014-2020″³ 17/20 Points, Jancis Robinson MW
