Happy Chinese New Year

Archive

Dear All,

Today is officially the year of the Dragon. Just like Christmas, it is a time where family and extended family get together. A day before the new year, we all have a dinner together and the most important dish is the sweet dumplings. The sweet dumplings are sticky and round, which symbolise that family should ‘stick’ together and without arguments. Chinese traditional dress is the most uncomfortable piece of clothing in the world, so the fact I have put on weight doesn’t help me breath at all (see pic). It is also supposed to be very good luck to wear red underpants, so some of you might want to test that out….

No meat is allowed on the first meal of the new year to have ‘mercy’ on the animals, ha. And of course no alcohol is allowed. Chinese tea and various traditional foods which all mean good luck will be served.
