The weather has been perfect; sun filled days and cold nights, whilst the wind has blown pretty well constantly keeping the great enemy rot at bay.

If this weather continues for the next two weeks, and the forecast is excellent, the prospects for the vintage are really very good indeed. The quality could be excellent and yields will be the highest since 2009, except of course in Pommard and Volnay where once again hail ripped through the vineyards on the 28th June.

As to the quality of the 2013s: the whites are very good, whilst there are some really excellent reds with a lovely balance of fruit and acidity. We have found the most exciting wines to date at Cathiard, Ponsot, Hudelot Noellat and Thierry Pillot. Our full report will follow shortly.
