Upon release we urged you to buy the 2007 Vintage Ports. 2007 was an excellent vintage in the Douro and now a year or so later, the Wine Advocate has released its scores. Most of the wines score extremely highly; the majority achieving more than 90 points. These scores prove just how amazing theses wines are.

When the majority of port houses declare a vintage, like they did in 2007, it demonstrates the quality of the vintage. The last time this occurred was in 2003. The 2007 vintage was near perfect with plenty of moisture in the soils from the previous winter, a sunny growing season and dry September and October which meant longer hang-times. The grapes were able to stay on the vine for much longer and therefore had the capacity to develop wonderful flavours.

2007 ports show elegance, poise and have enough flesh that they will be approachable in 15-20 years, with the capacity to age and develop far longer.
